He's watching YOU...
Nice. But why didn't the Germans just press on to capture the last remaining Belgian breweries as well? Then they wouldn't have to bargain for it... and how did the bottles survive both the shot and the impact? Wouldn't they have burst, if not from the impact energy then from the gas pressure inside?

As a matter of fact, I am just slurping a Westmalle Triple Trappist myself... although I wouldn't say that Belgisch Bier is superior to German beer, it is completely different and hardly comparable. Both have their strong and weak points, and I like them both for these respective traits. Lots of people here don't like Belgisch Bier for they are used to German, and I expect it will be vice versa also. I mostly do German and Czech beers, but like a Belgisch Bier for a change. This was made a lot easier since there is a Delhaize in Aachen, I go there every few weeks when I am with my parents...

That one is easy, the Germans can't press on to take the abbey because, as with any other Belgian product, the Belgians would either destroy the formula or take it to France.

As for the bottles bursting... I don't know. Either the bottles are made of steel and the area between the bottles and the shell has been pressurised to preserve the quality, using small steel bars holding the bottles in place, or the mud in no-man's-land provides an ideal cushion to break the fall. probably a combination of both.

I have an idea. Why don't we (Belgium and Germany) quit the EU and form our own union, the EBU (European Beer Union) with which we will rise to an economical elitary status?

Fuck off!
Hahaha hilarious Definetly the best so far
In order to continue the discussion about which beer is the best: as a Belgian I will definetly say Belgian beer, but whether you're Belgian or not, Westvleteren trappist (or is it just abbey beer?) is the very best. Even if you would ask the beerignorant Americans for their opinion (). They can make it that good because it's only produced on very small scale (it can only be bought in the Westvleteren abbey) and is only made by the Westvleteren monks with all passion you can have for beer.

Nice fact is that indeed this beer, which has been elected as best beer in the world several times (and now cannot join the competition anymore because it always wins), is the only beer which was still in Belgian hands during the war, because the Westvleteren abbey is right in the Westhoek Some soldiers took illegal jobs for the peasants on their farms during their break hours, just so they could buy the beer

Thanks for commenting. And I might think about making my own little blog or site where I can put up comics along the lines of crap.jinwicked.com.
