I know the Swastika was the emblem of a cult group which believed Germans were the descendants of the people of Atlantis - the start of Hitler's aryan obsession. The Nazis adopted them and took on the emblem too.

That belief was based on Helena Blavatsky's theories of Theosophy, ironicly, Helena Blavatsky also stated that semitic peoples such as jews are offshoots of the Aryan race - though Nazi Ariosophy had lots from Theosophy - and the Nazi's even collabrated with "untermensch" as Arabs, guess they see some semitic as descendents of Aryan.
Note: Until 1936, the 45th infantry regiment of the US had a yellow Swastika in a Finnish fashion in a red, 8 pointed star.
Rudolf Hess took part in a post-WWI Aryan cult which was alledgy anti-Imperial-German and strongly Pro-Fascist, it had a sunwheel as logo very smiliar to the swastika.
