FL18 - Frontline18 .:. Thats it!

Thats it!
Dienstag, 10.04.2007 23:55 by Andreas "Gamma" Koch

A fast overview across the team list will show some more guys returning and some members that switched over to Retired. With Tibmaker, one of the artists is back. The first new entrant since a long time, Outi will take care of the sourcecode in leading position.

But the real news of the day is a different one. Based on intense, internal discussions and the large amount of feedback from our community, the decision about BF1918/2 is made. With immediate effect all developments of the mod on the BF2 engine are closed. The reasons are multifarious and hard discussed. We bewail this step, but here are no further possibilities after the failure of this project. We know about the fans and players. We know about the long time you have been waiting on BF1918/2. That's why the full team wants to excuse and hope for your further support and your appreciation.

This is not only an end, its also a new beginning. And for this new beginning, here are something to quicken your appetite and some info about the future ways. But first of all:

Both screenshots show a landscape with dense trees, grass and some intense vegetation. One shows the scene with blue sky, the other one is covered with rain. Both pics were created with a fresh compiled version of "1918" and contain material from a engine demo. These both screenshots are a historic milestone for Frontline18 - you can see the first pictures of our very own game.

Now the cat is out of the bag. The Frontline18 team will develop a own game named "1918" on a unique game engine. Beside the possibilities of modding, we can use the full source code of this engine. This will open the chance for some new ways and developments. With the technological maturity and high flexibility of the engine, many of modding problems are gone.

We hope that our true and constant fans will stay with us on this new way. Within the next days we will show step by step some features of this engine. This will lead to the name of the engine and to the plan that we have in mind for the next months.

Awesome, Will you be releasing it on Steam or get yourselves a publisher? Can't wait to see what pure 1918 is like.

At the moment there are no plans to release on steam or get a publisher. We just wanna find out if we are able to do this and we will see what happens.

Its a new challenge for us.

No. Not at the moment. Battleships will stay as mod on BF2. Maybe later on, once we are really on the way. We will see. This to decide is the job of the Battleships team.

As many of you may know that the teams inside Frontline18 enjoy not only our possibilities and support. They have also the freedom of choice.

And for tanks and gas: keep watching the news, we will release later on today some more screens, with features of the engine.

All your base are belong to us.
It looks pretty, for sure. But are you switching over to RTS, or sticking to FPS instead?

Exciting news!

But, are you developing a brand new game-engine, or planing to buy a licens for a engine?

And if you are planing to buy a licens, is the name of the engine public info??

Fuck off!
A whole new "1918" game hell yeah ^^ I hope it'll be available in Belgium too :p
Doesn't this give an enormous ammount of possibilities, concerning "digging your own trenches" or things like that?

It does.

Or really should.

The question is, is that feasible, cause after all creating something means you have scratch away alot of idea's.
