FL18 - Frontline18 .:. Light in the dark

Light in the dark
Donnerstag, 12.04.2007 00:18 by Andreas "Gamma" Koch

Again, here is the mandatory daily news about the return of team members. Today soldering_iron, one of our content creators for the website, returns.

As promised we show today some more pictures, to demonstrate the abilities of the engine. A crucial argument of our choice is the strong abilities with lighting effects. The first picture shows an indoor scene with soft lights. The night scene in the second picture demonstrates how the light in the night works. Both examples demonstrate what is possible in the future. For instance, battlefield illumination and lights in dark bunkers are possible with this engine.

Both screenshots were taken with content of the engine demo and running a EXE files named 1918.exe. The foundations are laid, and we are on the way.

All your base are belong to us.
The previous screenshots looked much better... Those remind me of Quake 1, and it's definitely not a good thing.

this is not a graphic-demo, but a tech-demo, showing the things that are possible regarding dynamic lightning

textures are very low, but they are only for demo purposes.

Don't worry, Badger, I agree that this doesn't look very 1918-sh, but this is a tech demo and as C ZI said the textures are on low detail levels - note the lighting effects.

What game is that?

If is BF2,I´m almost sure lights can be used,as are being used in EoD2 VC tunnels...

It is not BF2 .

Try doing the following in BF2: create a lightsource (lamp), make it destroyable, destroy it ingame, the light stays .

What u can not see on the screens, this lamp in pic1 is moving and the lightsource moved also. If you destroy the lightsource, the light is off. As far as i know this one did not work in BF2.
